Neuropsychological testing assesses an individual’s pattern of cognitive strengths and weaknesses. That is, how the functions of our brain and nervous system affect how we think and behave. Many different abilities can be assessed. These include intelligence, memory, attention, problem solving, language, organisational skills, social perception/understanding and impulse control. A person’s reading, spelling and arithmetic skills may also be assessed. The abilities that are assessed will depend on the concerns raised about a particular person.
